The First destination of our roadtrip through South India was near the border of Karnataka and Andra (2 states in the northern/central region of South India). Here we traveled through stunning landscapes to get to a place close to all Indians' hearts: Hampi.

This area was once a thriving kingdom of the Vijayanagar Empire between the 1300s and 1500s. It is unique in its stone structures, which still stand in remarkable integrity now, both palatial and spiritual.

It is believed that the Goddess Parvati (Goddess of creation) meditated on these boulders to be united with her soulmate, Lord Shiva (God of transformation) against her parents wishes. Due to its sacred qualities, the wildlife and plantlife around the town are left to be in their natural state as we are meant to co-exist and not overtake the original inhabitants.
