WARANGAL, TELANGANA

Near my maternal family's hometown of Warangal in the state of Telangana, we visited two very special temples.

The first is the Veyyi Stambalu Gudi (Thousand Pillar Temple) dedicated to Lord Shiva (God of transformation) and the second is the Badrakali Temple (dedicated to Devi, the Goddess from whose womb the universe was born and who destroys evil)

The tree with red satchels tied to it is an important prayer spot, where one prays for something and promises to devote oneself to God by offering the red satchel filled with sacred items.

CHARMINAR- HYDERABAD

Back in Hyderabad, which is Prakash's hometown, and capital city of Telangana, my favorite structure is pictured here: Charminar (Four Pillars).

This is a longstanding relic from the Nizam empire during Mogul rule in South India, and alongside its structural beauty, it now shelters a bustling labyrinth of street markets and food vendors.

One can find just about Anything here.
